Former Africa Player of the Year, Victor Ikpeba has negated news announcing Taribo West’s death.
Reports that filtered the air on Friday evening has it that the former Super Eagles' defence stalwart died in South Africa, but his former teammate, Ikpeba and close associates rebuffed the claims via Twitter.
My brother Taribo West is alive. Please ignore rumours that he is dead.— Victor Ikpeba (@V_Ikpeba) September 30, 2016

SaharaReporters can authoritatively report that the kidnappers who abducted Margaret Emefiele, wife to sitting Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, are demanding N1.5 billion for her release.

SaharaReporters learned of these developments from a source with an intimate understanding of the delicate situation.

Mrs. Emefiele was abducted yesterday along the Benin-Agbor Road and her captors have been in communication with Mr. Emefiele. SaharaReporters has learned that in addition to Mrs. Emefiele, four other people were abducted including two other females, a male, and her driver.

It has also been learned that Mrs. Emefiele had a four-man police detail attached to her. However, when the police were confronted with the superior firepower of the kidnappers they ran away, leaving her and the other victims in the hands of the criminals.

Since her abduction, the kidnappers have been in constant communication with Mr. Emefiele, his representatives, and police negotiators. They are reportedly discussing the N1.5 billion ransom demand.

SaharaReporters also learned that the CNB is attempting to keep details of Mr. Emefiele wife’s abduction hidden from the media because it may scare off investors in Nigeria.

The Gypsie King as he is fondly called by fans- Tyson Fury, the reigning WBA, WBO, IBO, Ring magazine, and lineal heavyweight champion has tested positive for cocaine according to reports, weeks after pulling out from his heavyweight title defence with Klitschko citing mental issues.
Fury, was said to have been informed on Thursday night that his A sample from a random urine test on 22 September had tested positive for the substance benzoylecgonine, the central compound found in cocaine.

The Manchester born boxer who claims to be born again is set to lose his titles won in 2015. The presence of cocaine in his blood samples brings an all time low to Fury's career and could even bring about litigations and lawsuits against him and his camp.

Klitschko, who was supposed to have fought him since, has been made to wait for almost a year to regain his lost belts and with this new revelation could fight someone else for the WBO, WBA and IBO world titles..
A whole host of partners in the rematch - including television stations, the Manchester Arena which had been booked for October 29 and the fans who had invested in non-refundable hotel bookings and travel costs - may even consider seeking financial compensation from Fury and his camp.

Bernd Boente, the manager of Klitschko, has responded to the revelations: 'If this is true, Fury is the most unworthy of all the heavyweight champions.
'This might explain a lot but for certain this is terrible for boxing. I have to say that Fury must be the most disgraceful heavyweight champion of all time.

'Don't forget this comes in a package which also includes his outrageous homophobic and anti-Semitic comments.
'The wider issue for all of us in the sport is having him holding this position while being caught this way. What kind of an example is he setting to others in the sport and to youngsters all over the world by something like this?
'We have been involved with many outstanding holders of the most prestigious title in world sport. Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, your own Lennox Lewis were wonderful champions and splendid human beings. This is such a shame.'

We reported to you some days ago that Nigerian music legend, 2Face Idibia had a concert in Rwanda where the turnout was embarrassingly low and about only 50 people showed up at the event.

The singer has come out to explain what really happened, saying its not his fault and the low turnout was as a result of the show promoter’s failure.

He said:

‘I’m not the organizer of the show, I don’t live in Rwanda but apparently they didn’t do their homework. No matter the artiste’s name, if you don’t do your homework, promo and hype well that’s the result you’ll get. If you take Jay Z to Lagos without proper hype, same thing will happen’.

Asking about how he felt when he didn’t see the expected turnout at the event, he said:

‘Naturally I was, but then I didn’t do anything wrong. I was contracted, I went, I fulfilled my part and the few people that came, I made sure they had a nice time and that’s all that matters to me’.

Nigerian gay rights activist, Bisi Alimi is upset over this photo of a pastor who said his church member killed a cat that came to attack people in the church.

He showed his displeasure by posting the above photo and the caption below...

"Dear #Nigerians, I honestly don't believe we are this stupid and gullible. This stupid dubious form of religious criminal has to stop. To think there are people in this great country called Nigeria that believed in this bullshit? This man should be arrested for animal cruelty. The fuck? Which stupid evil cat is the idiot talking about? My blood is boiling at the moment. And there are some idiots shouting amen and sharing the stupid silly things."

The 20-years-old reality star has had a dramatic new inking inside her mouth, and it's her most bizarre yet.

Kendall Jenner has revealed a first glimpse at her new tattoo and it's in the last place we'd have ever imagined.

The reality star visited celebrity tattoo artist JonBoy in New York this week, before having the word "Meow" inked on the inside of her lip.

The brunette beauty posed for a photo after the procedure, flashing the small black word on the artist's Instagram page and she looked very proud with the end result.

It is thought to be Kendall's third tattoo, as she already has two small heart inkings on her hands.

A combined team of soldiers, air force officers and mobile police said to be over 1,000 have stormed the forest at Benin-Agbor road where Margaret Emefiele, the wife of Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele was taken to after she was kidnapped yesterday.

Commissioners of Police of Edo state and Delta state were spotted at Ugoneki police station this evening where they are working with others to find the kidnapped woman.

On Friday, Lagos State broke the world record of “Most People Playing Monopoly’’ with 1,300 students competing at a time at its “City of Lagos Monopoly’’.

The former record was set at the Universal Studio in Singapore on March 19, 2016. It involved the participation of 605 players.

The organiser of the event, Bestman Games, proposed the competition to break the earlier world record. Bestman Games partnered with the Lagos State Government to organise the U-17 Monopoly event at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.

The competition witnessed an influx of students who gathered to ensure that the aim of breaking the record was achieved.

The Chief Executive Officer of Bestman Games, Mini Akinkugbe, told newsmen that the number of students had exceeded her expectations.

“What we have here is indescribable, we have witnessed a record set in Lagos and this will go down in the history of the sport.

“We have exceeded our target but we do not want to deny anybody participation. “So, we have to accommodate everybody until there is no space to contain them,’’ she said.

Also, Catherine Bickersteth, Director of Strategic Educational Advisory Services Ltd., a co-sponsor of the event, said she expected to see the winner to participate in the World Championships.

“Firstly, the event is about mental awareness, not just the number, it’s about knowledge; we want people to learn a lot, especially have financial knowledge and critical thinking that will make them better.

“I am particularly elated by this record breaking event.

“One, they are starting young; a lot of young people in the hall today to understand the tool to be used not only to improve themselves but to solve problems.

“By God’s grace, it will hold annually and we hope to increase the quality year by year.

“The world championship is coming up and we hope to see the champion from here represent Nigeria,’’ Bickersteth said.

The prize money for the winner of the event was N500,000 with a slot in the next edition, while the second placed got N300,000 and third N200,000.

The event featured guests including the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Odien Ajumogobia, Sen. Guy Murray Bruce, Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu, and the Director-General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Adewunmi Ogunsaya.

Never play an away match again. That’s the advice a suspected prostitute could be getting from her friends after making a walk of shame in the n*de.
A suspected prostitute identified only as Sungani, was forced to walk in the street n*ked after she was busted by the wife of her married client Sam Nxumalo in Hwange, Matebeleland North province of Zimbabwe

According to B-Metro, the extreme walk of shame, a real life version of the one carried out by Cersi in Game of Thrones, happened last Sunday and was captured on camera by shocked residents.

It was gathered that some neighbours had tipped the wife off and she got the next lift from Cross Dete primary school where she was teaching to her home to see for herself.

According to a witness, during the action-packed drama, the n*ked Sungani who was assaulted by Nxumalo’s wife screamed in agony as she desperately tried to cover her decency when she was busted by the angry wife.

“When the wife got home she came face to face with a n*ked Sungani who sustained injuries and bled when beaten up. The prostitute pleaded for forgiveness and claimed Nxuamlo did not tell her that he was married.

“Ashamed and in tears Sungani was forced to parade her essentials in full view if residents. She was later saved from further embarrassment by another woman who gave her a towel to cover herself,” said the witness who preferred anonymity for fear of victimization.

After the sickening incident, Sungani has since gone into hiding.

Some people have tried severally to really understand why men who seem happy in a relationship go ahead to cheat. See all the details you need to know about here.

A relationship expert and counselor, Dr Kamal Khurana has revealed top reasons why men cheat in relationships you should know about and how to tackle the issue.

1. Disturbance in the marriage as the primary reason
When there are regular fights at home with his wife, which are left unresolved, a pattern sets in wherein he continues to be unhappy and ‘disturbed’. In this kind of a scenario, either he can fight or he can flee. When he looks for an affair, he is looking to flee from dealing with the issues in the marriage, and be comfortable with that ‘other person’. It is telling oneself that the problems do not affect anyone and life can continue in a better way with a parallel support.

2. Cheating men report boredom led to the affair
Some men may find the routine of a married life to be tedious and dull. These men find it easier to shift dominance or primacy to another relationship and feel the spark outside to be a thrilling option; instead of finding ways of charging their marriage. It becomes present moment for gratification versus the hard job that they will have to do in their marriage to resolve an issue. The extra-marital relationship provides them with a readymade and fresh experience, which is appealing enough to take the risk.

3. Cheating men love to experiment sexually
Sex has always been and will always be an integral part of a marriage. While some men are quite content spending the rest of their lives having sex with the same wife for many years, others prefer to experiment more as a need, rather than as an option. They want to sleep with many women, many times, and therefore do not think twice before an extra-marital alliance. It perhaps makes them feel sexually powerful and more adept than others.

4. Cheating men are emotionally dissatisfied
When their wives are too busy with their own lives, working or bringing up children or even looking after in-laws and parents, emotionally, men are left high and dry. But men are emotionally driven beings too. They want their wives to show them that they’re appreciated, and they want women to understand how hard they’re trying to get things right. Most men consider it unmanly to ask for a pat on the back, which is why their emotional needs are often overlooked. Sometimes the couple may not be compatible so however much the wife may do, the man will always find something to complain about.
It may also happen that the woman he cheats with is his co-worker or boss, someone who praises him, looks up to him, and compliments his efforts. That’s another reason why it’s so critical that he feel valued at home.

5. Cheating men have a history of EMR
Some men, in their childhood, may have witnessed cheating in their parent’s marriage. This somewhere gives them a message that it is okay to cheat, even though deep inside they know this is wrong. All of us learn from our parents, so taking the risk is good enough. This acquired learning also happens through cheating resorts taken by elder siblings, neighbours, peer group and everybody who has been impacted. Sometimes as teenagers and young adults, some men have had multiple relationships, these men either intentionally or accidentally end up going back to their ex-girlfriends. The other lot goes back to their past style of having multiple relationships. It is well said, what a mind thinks, achieves. So there are females also who are either consciously or unconsciously looking for such men.

6. Cheating men have wives who cheat
Men also take revenge with their cheating wives, by having multiple relationships themselves. Even if their wives are guilty and come accept their extra-marital relationships, some men continue with their tricks. This is mostly done by men who don’t want to forgive their spouses.

7. Cheating men think it to be ‘divorce’
Some men are willfully adulterous and use it as a means for acquiring divorce. The law also considers adultery as a fair ground for the wife to seek a divorce. The man is cheating openly and is in a non-receptive mood, taking the wife’s feelings of frustration to an all-time high. Although this percentage is less but it is there.

8. Cheating men need to be needed
When men feel that they are not needed by their wife anymore, they look out for some other woman, who can understand them and make them feel special. As an obvious outcome of a new relationship, they get that feeling from the other woman. And suddenly when they are showered with attention, which they haven’t received in a very long time in their marriage, they toss their hands in the air and get deep into the new hot and happening relationship.

Have you ever thought about how s*x workers feel when they have paid s*x versus when they engage in s*x with someone they love? This is your chance to find out.
People have always really curious to known about the lives of s*x workers behind the scenes.

S*x workers may sell their bodies for a living but not much is known about their personal lives, let alone their sexual habits behind closed doors.

If exchanging sexual favours for cash is your day job, does it dampen the flames of passion when you’re in private?

According to Daily Star UK, in a candid Reddit thread, escorts, sugar babies and prostitutes discussed their s*x lives when they’re on and off the clock.

A woman who has s*x with older men for money surprisingly said that she was more “affectionate” with her sugar daddies than with her boyfriend.

She said: “Many older men want a sugar baby because they feel lonely – their relationships have fizzled out and their children have grown up and moved away.

“So they turn to sugar babies not just to satisfy their sex drive, but to fulfil their need for intimacy and affection.

“When I have s*x with a sugar daddy, my goal is to make him feel like I’m almost in love with him.

“I’m far more gentle, there’s a lot more kissing involved and my focus is 100% on his desires – but I do frequently orgasm from that kind of s*x.”

The sugar baby also revealed that most of her clients are dominant in the bedroom.

She added: “The most surprising thing?

“I orgasm more from s*x with sugar daddies than with my boyfriend. They have more experience and more patience than guys my age.”

On the flip side, a male prostitute claimed that s*x with his clients was less intimate than with personal partners.

He said: “The sex is pretty different as it’s just part of the role without intimacy.

“Although you can still enjoy both the act itself and the ‘job well done’ feeling, believe it or not.

“If you get on well with a repeat client they can almost become friends, there’s genuine liking there on a rapport level.”

But not all s*x workers found selling their bodies enjoyable and Redditor Paradise Sold opened up about turning her back on the industry.

She said: “The biggest difference is whether or not I can relax.

“My boyfriend would never try to gag me or switch holes or pinch me, but the men who would pay me didn’t care.

“It’s so different now. My boyfriend loves me, I feel so safe.

“I wish I’d never done it. I don’t know why I ever said it was easy money, it f***** me up pretty bad.”

Meanwhile another person added: “The biggest difference is the amount of drugs everyone is on, at least in my experience.”

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), one of the political parties that took part in Edo State governorship election on Wednesday, has condemned the outcome of the election.

Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress was declared winner of the election that had 19 political parties vying for the governorship seat.

But the National Chairman of APGA, Dr. Victor Oye, condemned the outcome of the election, describing the way his party was treated as contemptuous, callous and malicious.

He expressed surprise that the 876 votes allotted to his party was deliberately done to humiliate and intimidate its members because of the massive attractions the party had among the people of Edo during preparations for the election.

Dr. Oye wondered how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) came to 876 votes when the support for the party cut across the three political zones of the state.

Remain Peaceful And Prayerful
He requested that INEC should produce the results collated at each polling unit and get a forensic expert to examine each of them.

“The outcome of the scrutiny would definitely shock the world.
“The results collated by our polling agents showed that APGA garnered over 30,000 votes.

“Some fraudulent persons traded with the APGA’s votes to make up for their own votes in order to win the election at all costs,” he claimed.

He congratulated APGA supporters in Edo State for their doggedness and unrelenting support, urging them not to be fazed by the outcome of the election, as it did not reflect what actually transpired.

“Remain calm, peaceful and prayerful. It will not be long before the world will know the truth. Truth is unassailable,” he stated.

A statement by a spokesman for the political party, Ifeanacho Oguejiofor, said the leader of APGA also praised its candidate, Osaro Onaiwu, for his innovative style of campaign that sent shock waves across the state, saying that the campaign “forced the two leading parties to plot to silence him by squandering his votes and allocating a paltry 876 votes to him”.

The APGA boss assured his members that brighter days lie ahead, as the party would intensify its awareness campaigns across Nigeria, as a way of shoring up its membership.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to continue with unremitting intensity in his electoral reforms and to bear in mind that ‘democracy is a process and not a destination’.

Dr. Oye stressed that Nigeria’s democracy could only attain its full heights when elections were conducted with fineness and credibility.

Before the final result of the election was announced by the electoral body, the candidate of APGA in the election, Mr Onaiwu, called for a total cancellation of the election , claiming there were irregularities.

Recession: As the country celebrates its 56th independence anniversary, some women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have decried the continuous hike in the prices of food items in the market as carton of fish hit N22,000.

Some of them, who spoke with newsmen in Abuja on Friday called on government at all levels to introduce price regulatory system to protect the consumers from unwarranted price hike.

Mrs Agnes Itoro, a housewife, told pressmen that some traders were using the pretext of the economic recession to hike prices of food items on a daily basis and indiscriminately. “My husband gives me N10, 000 for the purchase of food items every month for four members of my house. But now even if he releases N15, 000 or even N20, 000, it will not be enough for the list of items I normally purchase.

“I normally use some of the remaining monies from the market to cater for my needs.

“Now, it is not even enough for the items we need at home monthly,’’ she said.

A civil servant, Mrs Lilian Ibekwe, told journalists that prices of the food items had increased but there was no increment in salaries to complement it. She said, ”this issue needs urgent attention, if not people will begin to eat once in a day”.

Mrs Florence Iwotor, a food vendor, said the increase in the prices of food items was negatively affecting her business. “I cook and sell food but at the end of the day, I do not make any profit because I do not even cover the cost of goods bought.

“I am contemplating quitting the businesses because I put a lot of efforts under the rain and the sun still, I do not make the desired profit to make ends meet in my family,’’ Iwotor told newsmen. Meanwhile, the survey conducted by pressmen in some markets in Utako, Nyanya and Mararaba markets revealed that prices of some food items had doubled.

A carton of iced fish at Utako market, previously sold between N12, 000 and N12, 500, is now being sold at N22, 000 depending on the specie of the fish at Nyanya market.

A bag of rice which was sold between N7, 000 and N12, 000 now goes for between N17, 000 and N22, 000 in all major markets. A 20 litres gallon of red oil which was sold between N7, 000 and N9, 000, now sells for N12, 500 at Mararaba market.

Also, a 20 litres gallon of vegetable oil sold at N6, 000 and N8, 000 previously now sells at between N12, 000 to N13, 000. A bag of garri which was sold at N6, 000 is now being sold between N10, 000 and N12, 000.

Mrs Uche Ajegba, an iced fish seller at the market, attributed the increase in the price of fish to increase in import duty and exchange rate. Some traders in the market told newsmen that they were selling according to the price they bought the products.

MTN has reportedly laid off some of its contract staff, particularly those that work at the telecommunications call centers. According to inside sources, many of them were given their disengagement letters yesterday, September 28th. Some of them that worked in their branch in Apapa, Lagos state, had their salaries reduced from N120,000 to N40,000 a month and were asked to continue working at their Ibadan office if they were still interested in the job. Sad news!

A clergyman who was reported to have been paralysed after destroying a shrine in Ketu, Ayetoro area of Ogun State, on Sept. 20th, said traditionalists beat him with charms and other fetish objects but he was not affected spiritually or physically.

Pastor Adewale Fagbire of the Christ Apostolic Church(CAC) said this on Thursday, in Abeokuta during a press conference organised by the Ogun State branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Fagbere, while debunking claims that he was stricken by angry gods of the shrine and only regained consciousness after priests of the shrine carried out some rites on him, upon intervention of the Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, said that his action was an instruction from God, that he evacuated all the fetish items in the shrine, and that while he was assaulted by the traditionalists, he decided to remain quiet.
He told those in attendance at the conference that his late father, who reigned as the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Taiwo Fagbire, used to take him to the shrine while alive.
"About what happened at Ayetoro, it was from God and direction from the Holy Spirit for the deliverance of Ayetoro from darkness. When I started what God told me, He told me to do three things in the shrine. He said that when I get there, I should evacuate; I should step aside and remain silent when people come out to see me. So, I did exactly as instructed by God on that Sept. 20. I got  there around 5.a.m. and after  I took out  those things ,God told me to wait and stay and I did so. It was not their gods that held me transfixed or struck me;  it was the idol worshipers that struck me with their charms. When I was taken to the palace, I told them that all my actions were directed by God and not human beings or the church of God. Although, they tried many charms on me, none was effective on me. I only followed the instruction of God that I should be quiet and they too know the truth." the cleric narrated.
Meanwhile, the Regional Coordinator of Yewa/Awori Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN),  Apostle Lola Dada, claims that the custodians of the shrine demanded for money from the family and CAN to appease the gods.
"They demanded for things they claimed they wanted to use for sacrifice. They asked the family of the pastor to pay N300,000 while CAN should bring N200,000,  making it N500,000  for the sacrifice to appease their gods. However, no money was given to them and peace has returned to the town,"  he said.
A move by the Police to charge Fagbere for malicious damage and act capable of breaching public peace, may have been stopped.

Spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen that the case might not continue because the traditionalists  "were dragging their feet on the case."

President Buhari says he will not stop blaming PDP for the current state of the nation. Speaking at the launch of a pictorial book entitled ‘Buhari a new beginning’ by his personal photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo in the state house Abuja, President Buhari said
“I’m going to bore you with what we met. I know I’m being accused in the papers of passing the buck, but passing the buck is sometimes absolutely necessary, to remind people who take things for granted.
The youth must watch our elite, the condition we found ourselves. It is unpatriotic for anybody to pretend that economically we don’t have a problem. We have gone into the farms. I congratulate some of the governors and by the grace of God by the end of this government we will be exporting rice and grains. So all the money alleged to have been used to import will be available to sustain development. I have bored you with this long explanation because there are things that could be hidden from you by those that have mismanaged the country in the last 16, 17 years. I assure you that we will set the ball rolling in terms of security, industrialisation, manufacturing and food security. I said it years ago and I still mean it, we have no other country than Nigeria, we will stay here and salvage it together”he said

An Australian promoter has fallen victim of yet another fraudster impersonating Wizkid’s management. The unsuspecting promoter had gone ahead to pay $5000 as part of the agreed sum to the fake agents who claimed to represent the pop star for a scheduled Australian tour.

The promoter however became worried when he couldn’t reach the impersonators anymore and when it also became obvious the artiste will not be available for the planned tour.

He however made more enquiries and eventually got through to Sunday Are led List Entertainment, the real management company for Wizkid before it dawned on him that he had been duped.

The bitter complaints about this development from Wizkid’s management company however got the attention of the media, again warning the general public for the umpteenth time to stop dealing with fraudsters parading themselves to be representing Wizkid.

The company has before now made public phone numbers and emails of the company for all enquiries about Wizkid. They are: 08033480122, 08059932155, sunday.are@listentertainmentng.com

You will recall that some fraudsters impersonating the pop star were once arrested and remanded at the Lagos State Police Headquarters in Ikeja.

A professor of Biochemistry as enumerated the amazing health benefits of having sex first thing in the morning.
Prof. Musa Yakubu of University of Ilorin has said having sex in the early morning lowers blood pressure and reduces risks of heart attack.

Yakubu of the Department of Biochemistry made the assertion in a paper, “Knocking Down the Barriers to Four O’Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies”, presented at the 163rd Inaugural lecture of the university on Friday.

He said that having sexual intercourse, three to four times a week, was good for love life.He said

“Research has shown that sex boosts immune system by stimulating the body’s first line of defence and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” he said.

Immunoglobulin A is one of the most common antibodies in the body system.Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight bacteria, viruses, and toxins.

Sex, according to Yakubu also regulates menstruation in women by influencing the levels of lutenizing hormones that control menstrual period and promote better sleep.

He said sex also releases the feel-good chemical, known as oxytocin, which enhances closeness with one’s partner and makes people feel happier for a longer period of time.

“Lovemaking of about 20 minutes reduces 150 calories,” he said.

The professor of Biochemistry postulated that sex is the most powerful creative force given to human by God for pleasure and deep companionship.

Yakubu, however, noted that any marriage in which the man or woman could not enjoy sexual intercourse or satisfy their partner in bed was a dead marriage. He said lack of sexual satisfaction had led to the collapse of many marriages in Nigeria, and urged couples to seek for solutions to the problem.

“Sexual and reproductive dysfunctions are common among men and women in Nigeria, which necessitates regular screening and check-ups,” he said.

Rapper Falz is the cover star of the latest issue of Bold Magazine Africa.

Talking about the issue, Creative Director of the shoot Bella Adeleke says

“Nigeria is still a dynamic modern jungle and one must wonder if the same music business structure in developed countries can work in our nation. This brought us to the decision of picking the extremely talented and knowledgeable Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana as our cover personality. Not only is he one of the biggest exports in Nigeria at the moment, the award winning rapper and entertainer is a Lawyer and a label owner. We discussed his growth as an artist as he sheds light on what it takes to be an artist in this generation. We also discussed the law behind music and if record deals/labels really work in a environment like Nigeria and so much more.
Riding on the strongly on the coattail we have ‘The ones to watch’. These talented individuals really highlight the unique and dynamic sound which represents the diversity of the genre we call Afrobeats. The music is not all about the somewhat monotonous over synthesised beats, 2liner choruses about popping bottles which will include new slangs/phrases that make no sense whatsoever that would later result in a dance…I’m not usually one to stereotype.
With creating their own individual spin on Afrobeats these artists have been able to invite many new international listeners to the genre with their authenticity and relatable melodies. Will these individuals lead the pack with their unique sound or succumb to the trending Afrobeat wave. On the visual side of things we speak to one of the most promising video directors in the Afrobeats game recently. Meji Alabi has insidiously risen to the top by creating seemingly effortless, aesthetically pleasing and world class videos for the Afrobeats market. He speaks candidly about his thoughts on the industry, why a music video is as important as the music and so much more.
As always all of these amazing features is followed by editorials reflecting the style and identity of the personalities interviewed. With a themed editorial and on trend fashion finds we have kept true to this issue with the heavy focus on music.
Fela once said ‘With music, I create change…music is my weapon’ With the world listening artists can use their voice to revolutionise the nation. If Hiphop can do it for America, i don’t see why Afrobeats cannot do it for Nigeria. Happy tunes and trendy dances are great but the ones that stand the test of times are those that ring through to the plight of the masses, artists that use their voice to challenge the injustice their society faces. In creating a genre we are insidiously creating a culture, and it needs to stand for something.

Suspended lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin, on Thursday gave his colleagues in the House of Representatives three days to return all questionable allowances they paid themselves.
Mr. Jibrin said any lawmaker who fails to heed his call should be prepared for the backlash that would follow when he publishes details of how such official perpetrated the fraud.
Mr. Jibrin’s statement came a day after he was suspended by the House for 180 legislative days —approximately a full calendar year as the House sits three times a week— after being found guilty of violating House ethics and lawmakers’ privileges.
It also came a month after Mr. Jibrin accused his colleagues of raking in millions in illegal allowances, and after he indicted himself as having received N650 million illegally.
To return their loot, Mr. Jibrin advised his colleagues to individually approach the appropriate authority and make arrangement on how to pay everything back into the federal purse.
“I have written to the Clerk of the National Assembly to stand by in anticipation,” Mr. Jibrin said.  “In the face of the revenue challenges and biting hardship the country is currently facing, there is no better time the country needs such money than now.”
Mr. Jibrin said he resolved to take this action after receiving numerous enquiries from different corners on the need for him to back his allegations against the House leadership and other lawmakers with evidence.
“I have come under intense public scrutiny and pressure to prove that there exists systemic corruption in the House,” Mr. Jibrin said.
Mr. Jibrin said he was specifically demanding the return of a N10 million illegal allowances his colleagues allocated to themselves while the poor were struggling to make ends meet.
House spokesman, Abdulrazak Namdas, did not respond to PREMIUM TIMES’ request for comment Thursday night.
Mr. Jibrin had frequently threatened to release “shocking” details about fraud in the House since he first accused Speaker Yakubu Dogara of budget fraud over two months ago.
On August 27, Mr. Jibrin said he had identified two governors working to shield Mr. Dogara from prosecution and vowed to reveal their identities. He has yet to do so.
Similarly, Mr. Jibrin said on September 19 that he was releasing some revelations “that will send shock down the spines of Nigerians”. He hasn’t done that, either.
Mr. Jibrin said the process that led to his suspension was flawed and vowed to reverse it in the court of law.

Vice President President Yemi Osinbajo says that it is madness for people in positions like President Buhari and himself to come into office and look for money to loot.

A statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, quotes Osinbajo as saying this while receiving a delegation of Christian Ministers Welfare Initiative also known as the Pastors’ Forum, Taraba State, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja yesterday.

“This morning, I had a meeting with the President and he repeated to me twice, he said ‘at my age, there is only one thing I am looking for, I want to see a great Nigeria.’ He has no other objective and I feel very inspired by that. It is madness for anybody in our position to be looking for money. According to him, God put people in a position of authority for them to be able to do something for their people. I think if any Nigerian gets the chance to be President of the country, there is nothing he/she is looking for anymore, except that, while there, you improve the lot of the people”he said
